Dr Katherine Masselos - Cataract & Glaucoma Surgeon

Dr Katherine Masselos is an Ophthalmologist who specialises in cataract and glaucoma surgery.

After completing a Bachelor of Optometry at the University of NSW, she went on to study medicine at Sydney University, graduating from both degrees with honours.

Dr Masselos performs minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, as well as trabeculectomy and tube shunt surgery.

During her final year of ophthalmology training Dr Masselos was appointed to the privileged position of Professorial Senior Registrar at Prince of Wales Hospital. Following her training, Dr Masselos went on to a sub-specialty glaucoma fellowship at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, in the United Kingdom. There she gained extensive laser and glaucoma surgical experience.

Dr Masselos is a staff specialist at Prince of Wales and Sydney Eye Hospitals where she enjoys teaching clinical and surgical skills to future ophthalmologists. Dr Masselos is also involved in teaching junior doctors, medical students and optometry students.

She is committed to ensuring equitable access to eye care and has been a consultant ophthalmologist for the Outback Eye Service through the Prince of Wales Hospital serving the community of Broken Hill and surrounding regions for many years. Dr Masselos is a lecturer at the University of New South Wales and Chair of the Clinical Advisory Panel for Glaucoma Australia.

Dr Masselos is actively involved in research and has published in international journals as well as presented at local and international meetings.
